LOK SABHA SPEAKER LEADS INDIA PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION FOR 63RD COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY CONFERENCE IN DHAKA

New Delhi, 4 November 2017: Lok Sabha Speaker and Chairperson of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region, Smt. Sumitra Mahajan is leading an Indian Parliamentary Delegation to attend the 63rd Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Dhaka from 1 to 8 November, 2017. The other members of the delegation are Shri Pramod Tiwari, MP (Rajya Sabha), Shri Devendra Bhole Singh, MP (Lok Sabha), Shri Subhash Patel, MP (Lok Sabha), Smt. Roopa Ganguly, MP (Rajya Sabha), Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi, MP (Lok Sabha) and Member of Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) Steering Committee, Shri Anoop Mishra, Secretary General, Lok Sabha and Regional Secretary, CPA India Region and Shri Desh Deepak Verma, Secretary General, Rajya Sabha. Shri Atul Kaushik, Additional Secretary, Lok Sabha Secretariat will be Secretary to the Delegation. The Official Opening of the Conference will be held from 1000 hours onwards on Sunday, 5 November, 2017. The meeting of CPA India Region Group will be held from 1700 hours on the same day. There will be 8 Workshop Sessions – 4 Workshop Sessions in the forenoon and 4 Workshop Sessions in the afternoon on Monday, 6 November, 2017. Hon’ble Speaker, Lok Sabha will be a Lead Speaker in Workshop ‘G’ on the topic “Giving voice to the youth: Mechanisms for ensuring effective participation of youth in the governance process”. The CWP Business Meeting and Session will also be held on the same day and will be attended by Smt. Meenakashi Lekhi, MP (Lok Sabha) and Member of CWP Steering Committee. The Commonwealth Youth Parliament Roundtable would be attended by Shri Subhash Patel, MP (Lok Sabha) from India Region on Monday, 6 November, 2017. The General Assembly and Election of Chairperson of the Executive Committee will be held on Tuesday, 7 November, 2017 followed by Closing Ceremony. Thereafter, meeting of the New Executive Committee and Society of Clerks-at-the-Table meeting will be held on the same day. The SOCATT Meeting will be attended by the Secretaries General of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
